Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Place popped corn in large roasting pan; let stand in oven while preparing glaze. In medium saucepan combine b. sugar, corn syrup, margarine, and salt. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil over medium heat. WITHOUT STIRRING, boil 4 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in baking soda & vanilla (it will foam up & turn lighter brown). Pour over warm popcorn; toss to coat well. Bake 60 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool, stirring frequently. (You will want to get it out of the pan it’s in because it cools quickly and will stick to the pan in one bug lump and then you’ll struggle to get it out, break it all over the floor and your dog will love you, but you’ll have to start over again! I take it out and put it in something else than can get warm, and then I use clean hands to “stir it” or break it into the size pieces I like.) Store in tightly-covered container if it lasts that long!
